This was a really awesome coming of age movie. It’s about a dorky black kid, Malcolm, who’s in a punk band and his friends. They get caught up in an adventure selling drugs. Things spiral, and get a bit out of control, but Malcolm figures it out. It had a really great soundtrack, and really great characters. Sometimes something still seemed sort of off? Like maybe there were a couple different movies it was trying to be, and things never balanced. There was a fairly unnecessary straight romance, which didn’t do much on it’s own, but was there to set up the action plot. The action plot really worked, and so did most of the weird little tangents. I’d have to watch it again to figure out exactly what stopped it from flowing, and I’m looking forward to that. It’s a smart movie. I didn’t watch it with my girlfriend, but I think she’d like it. It’s really cool, and really different, and definitely worth your time.
